STATEMENT OF FAITH
Empowered by Christ
We believe that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, including overcoming sin in the flesh.
(Philippians 4:13)
Although the Spirit of Christ within us is willing to walk 100% in accordance with the Word of God, we acknowledge that our flesh is weak.
(Matthew 26:41)
When we knowingly give in to temptation and sin, we believe that Jesus was made a sacrifice for us, allowing us to repent and put away the things that easily throw us off course.
(Hebrews 10:10; 1 John 1:9; Hebrews 12:1)
The Godhead
We believe that God the Father (Jehovah), His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are three distinct beings, yet in perfect unity.
(Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 3:16,17)
Baptisms
We believe that water baptism is an outward showing of an inward commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
(Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4)
We also believe that the baptism of God’s Spirit is an inward transformation that is necessary to become a true son or daughter of God.
(John 3:5–6; Romans 8:14–16; Acts 10:44-48)
Dying to Self to Live in Christ
We believe that in order for Christ to live in us and direct our steps, we must be willing to let our old sinful ways die. When this happens, we fulfill the scripture:
“Not I, but Christ lives in me.”
(Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:6–8)
Holiness vs. Self Righteousness
We do not believe that one can earn a place in heaven through righteous deeds. However, we believe that righteousness will naturally flow from true believers.
(Ephesians 2:8–9; James 2:17–18)
If we follow Christ, then we are made holy, and the fruit of our lives will be holy.
(1 Peter 1:15–16; John 15:5–8; Matthew 7:18-21)
Power of His Love
We believe that the power of love can cover all sins and change any heart.
(1 Peter 4:8; 1 John 4:7–12)
This is affirmed by Jesus, who said that all commandments can be summed up as:
“Love God the Father above all other gods, and love your neighbor as yourself.”
(Matthew 22:37–40)
The Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus
Most importantly, we believe that Jesus was sacrificed for our sin, paying our debt of death.
(Romans 5:8; Isaiah 53:5–6)
We believe He was buried so that death and sin have been conquered and no longer have the power to control us.
(Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12–15; 1 Corinthians 15:54-56; 2 Corinthians 5:14,15)
We believe that on the third day, He rose from the grave, giving all who believe the opportunity for new life.
(1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 6:5; 2 Corinthians 5:15-17)
Ascension and Fulfillment of Promise
We believe that Jesus ascended back into heaven to prepare a place for us, to advocate on our behalf before the Father, and to pour out the Holy Spirit—the Comforter—on all flesh.
(John 14:2–3; Romans 8:34; Acts 2:16,17; Acts 1:8-11)
In doing so, He fulfilled the promise given to Abraham:
“Your seed will be like the sands upon the seashore.”
(Genesis 22:17–18; Galatians 3:29)
